HCPP

THE HOME CLUB PORTRAITURE PROJECT
Home Is Where the Heart Is

HCPP is a portraiture project developed in collaboration with Home Club (Singapore) in 2012. Seeking subject matter close to home, I turned my attention to a space that had become a cultural anchor: a venue where local and international artists gathered, performed, and passed through in constant motion.

The project takes the form of a yearbook-style portrait archive, documenting the individuals who shaped Home Club’s electronic music nights throughout the year. Working within the rhythms of the venue itself, I created a temporary studio setting in a corridor behind the club, photographing artists in brief, focused sessions just before their performances. Using minimal equipment and limited time, the portraits were guided by immediacy, trust, and presence.

By engaging artists within the liminal space between preparation and performance,  Each portrait becomes both a record and a moment of pause. A portraiture session which lasted no more than 10 minutes per person.

Presented as an embossed 8.5” × 11” hardback, the book pays homage to the artists who performed, inspired, and animated Home Club throughout 2012. Captured with an intimate, observational approach, the portraits reveal personality, sentiment, and presence across both international guests and local talent.
